Judge Arthur Engoron

Judge Arthur Engoron seems like a cool cat, unflappable, not the kind of guy who'll do something rash Donald Trump could use for an appeal.

Of course, it's pretty easy going with the actual verdict already decided~Trump is guilty of fraud.

It's just a matter of damages and New York Attorney General Letitia James has set a high bar~$250M, so, we suspect maybe an award somewhat south of that.

The case involves fraud in greatly exaggerating property values in exchange for more favorable borrowing against those properties including interest rates.

With no TV coverage of the trial, we're reliant on news reports and several have said that Trump was arguing his properties were actually worth more than the Trump Corporation estimates.  We're not sure how that testimony helps him.

Judge Engoron reportedly told Trump to "just answer the question, not give speeches" and to his attorneys "control your client."

When asked about a specific document, Trump was said to have replied that he was too busy dealing with Russia and China, keeping the country safe to remember, to which the judge is said to have reminded him that the incident in question occurred in 2021 when he was not President.

Listening to the reports from the court room, there might be an inclination to consider Trump to be dumb as a rock, but, that contention is hard to justify with tens of millions of Americans believing he's Jesus Christ incarnate.

  1. Donald Trump is trying to preach to his base with his court testimony, but with the trial not televised they're not likely to get the message.
