J-L CAUVIN, ENHANCING THE LINEAGE OF AMERICAN POLITICAL SATIRISTS

YouTube's
smile detector keeps redirecting me to comedian J-L Cauvin(yes, he separates his initials with a hyphen, not a period), a NYC kid born to an Irish-American mother and Haitian father.

A total smart alec in school, doing Jean-Claude Van Damme impressions by the 6th grade, Cauvin ended up at Williams College, followed by Georgetown Law Center.

Catching some comedy acts in DC, Cauvin inquired about getting on stage and was directed to Open Mic Night which led to a sold out show at the Improv by 2004.

Cauvin's comedy material first focused on his heritage as a tall, "half-Black guy," but what won my attention on YouTube was a guy who captures every Trump nuance, getting deeply and accurately into the Republican frontrunner's head with voice, attitude and manner.

Listen carefully or you'll miss something important!

Starting in 2006 with Racial Chameleon, Chauvin has done 6 comedies albums, his latest in 2017 about Trump, entitled Fireside Craps.

Political satire, especially the chiding and mocking of our leaders, is one thing I really like about America and the heritage is long and clever; from Dana Carvey's perfect capture of George H.W. Bush to David Frye's rendition of Nixon's "I'm not a crook!"

As much as politics makes us cry, it also makes us laugh.
