TO VACCINATE OR NOT TO VACCINATE?

With 97% of Covid 19 hospitalizations and 99.5% of Covid 19 deaths occuring among the unvaccinated, getting "the shot" seems like the course of wisdom.es

Despite those facts, I do understand life experiences that could lead to anti-vaccine thinking.

Decades ago I met a young man paralyzed from taking an anti-rabies vaccine.  He'd been bitten by a dog who couldn't be located and so his parents thought it prudent for him to get the vaccine just in case.(I did check the science and found that paralysis is a very rare, but actual sometimes side effect of anti-rabies vaccine.)

When my brother-in-law got very sick from the swine flu vaccine in the mid-seventies, I vowed to never take a flu shot.

Since then, I've noticed almost annually that the particular strain of flu that dominates each year is typically not the one for which the vaccines were designed.

A close friend in Brownsville is experiencing very noticeable symptoms from the Pfizer vaccine.

All those anecdotes aside, the prudent thing is to get vaccinated, especially with the Delta variant kicking in.  Remember the 97% and 99.5% noted above.

Please realize that TV commentators like Fox News Tucker Carlson don't give a shit about your health when they spew ant-vaccine rhetoric.

Goofy Kentucky Senator Rand Paul said recently that "Dr. Fauci should be told to take a leap."

Such idiocy finds a fertile ground among Americans who believe the "Big Lie," that Trump actually won the 2020 election.

Once one believes our government would permit a fraudulent election, it's an easy jump to thinking they would threaten our health with a dangerous vaccine.

Please, friends, don't fall for that dumb shit.  Get vaccinated for Covid 19.
