Ms. Reyna writes: "Cardenas believes his inexperience in politics is what makes him the better candidate because he doesn’t care about the game of it all, just about doing what’s best for Brownsville. Cardenas, who is a businessman, has served on the Mr. Amigo and Greater Brownsville Incentives Corporation boards."
Let Cardenas say it in his own words: “I believe the citizens of Brownsville deserve a voice; they deserve a voice who has not been in politics. Who does not know the game and doesn’t care about the game of politics.”
That's ludicrous. Every job has a learning curve. Would Cardenas hire someone with zero experience as lead chef in his Mi Pueblito Restaurant?
Anyway, speaking of the Greater Brownsville Incentives Corporation, Cardenas did "serve," but with a reputation for chronic absenteeism, actually on the agenda for removal. Eventually, the City Commission chose to disband the entire board. That likely is the reason Cardenas is running against Neece.
Ms. Reyna continues, describing Cardenas:
"Cardenas said he decided to run because he believes the citizens of District 4 don’t have a voice and that it was very hard for several business owners, including himself, to get hold of the commission to know what the next steps were early during the pandemic when businesses were forced to shut down. He said if elected, he will make himself available to listen to the constituents."
That's interesting, because during the campaign there were five public forums could have "made himself available to listen to the constituents" and given them a "voice," but he missed all five.
In contrast, Neece, the incumbent and Municipal Judge for 32 years, made himself available to the citizens for all five public forums, answering their questions and making his platform and record known.
If, as they say, the "best predictor of future behavior is past performance," Cardenas has given you a glimpse of what he would be like as a City Commissioner, likely a "no show" for commission meetings and certainly an underperformer.
Neece, on the other hand, has a track record of accomplishments in District 4, including the B.I.G. Grant Program and reorganization of city departments.
Mi Pueblit Restaurant?
Juan Montoya bitching at Ben Neece. Didn't Ben keep him out of jail after 3/4 DWIs? Fucking ingrate!
ReplyDeleteStop licking Bens asshole, what has he done for Brownsville besides sing, play the scitar and get stoned? Streets in his district are in disrepair and unable to handle his business as working FOR the constituents of Brownsville.
