ANALYZING THE CANDIDACY OF PEDRO CARDENAS

Pedro Cardenas

I'm not so lacking in self-awareness, that I don't realize that I couldn't be elected as Dog Catcher in the City of Brownsville.

That being said, should have ever run for office, here or anywhere, knowing myself as I do, I would have been eager to attend any public forum, debate or interview available, coming prepared with ideas, eager to answer questions from the citizens and share my platform.

More than that, I can see myself lingering after the forum was over, listening and talking to those in attendance, taking note of questions and/or ideas.

Having said that, it totally blows my mind that Pedro Cardenas has missed, not one, not two, not three, not four, but all FIVE public forums scheduled during this election cycle.

Whether Pedro's difficulty stems from timidity, shyness, cowardice or sheer lack of intestinal fortitude,  how in the Hades does he expect to sit in the City Commission chambers before a live audience with hundreds of others on a livestream, prepared to respond to questions and issues dealing with our city?

Simply put, if you can't attend a candidate forum you don't have the skills or knowledge to function as a City Commissioner.

Last night I learned that Erasmo Castro had extended an invitation for Cardenas to appear yesterday on his podcast.   Cardenas declined to appear "one on one" with Castro, but said that, if Castro could find "3 or 4 neighbors, he would take questions from one of them."

I'm through with this young man.  He's not qualified to serve and too arrogant to answer questions from the public.

Electing Pedro Cardenas to the City Commission would be a total waste of that office.

    1. If you're trying to speak on behalf of Mr. Cardenas, you're not representing him very well.
