Brownsville City Secretary Griselda Rosas, High Priestess of the Ballot Position Draw
The position in which a candidate's name is listed on the ballot is not the most critical factor in getting elected, but as John Cowen, candidate for City Commissioner At Large "A," told me today:
"Everyone is trying to get that edge!"
Jessica Tetreau-Kalifa, the incumbent in the City Commissioner, District 2 race, visibly crossed herself before drawing the #1 position in that race. As they say:
"The Lord works in mysterious ways!"
Ricardo Longoria, Jr., a cagy veteran of many political skirmishes, did not visibly seek Divine assistance, subsequently finishing fourth in a four person race.

Why defer to another blog? Lazy?
ReplyDeleteYou must be from out of town. The McHale Report is not simply "another blog" as you so feebly portray it, but actually an iconic,journalistic force in the City of Brownsville. It's editor, Jerry McHale, is widely viewed as this area's Blogfather, that is the primary and original practitioner of this art form.
DeleteIt was not laziness, but simply respect for a journalistic scoop that gave me pause while considering the opportunity to simply "cut and paste" the master's work.
Please don't view my words as a scolding, but simply an opportunity to expand your vision, to see the bigger picture, one that embraces journalistic ethics, while recognizing the huge debt we all have to those who have gone down this road before us.
Bobby and Roman are talking about doing a podcast together and it will be better and more popular than Erasmo's.
