Film Interview Ban in Senate Hallways Reversed

Senator Richard Shelby
CNN Reporter Manu Raju is free to roam U.S. Senate hallways again with the ever-present microphone in his right hand.

This past Tuesday, in a move reminiscent of the Kremlin, the Senate Rules Committee attempted to stifle, stymie and squelch film interviews in the hallways by insisting that any interview conducted had to first be approved by the rules committee's chief counsel and the senator to be interviewed.

Senate Rules Committee Chairman, Senator Richard Shelby from Alabama, claimed it was all a big misunderstanding and the temporary ban has been rescinded.

Shelby claimed his staff had acted without his knowledge to control interviews after receiving multiple complaints from senators who stated they were being "hounded" by reporters.
