District 1 Candidate Micheal Gonzalez Offers Facebook Rebuttal to Rick, Declines Interview, Roman's Partial Email Forwarding, Bobby's Demands

District 1 Candidate Michael Gonzalez, friend
As an apparent afterthought, District 1 Candidate for City Commissioner Micheal Gonzalez, recommended via Facebook we read and then likely share his response to incumbent Rick Longoria's challenge to his campaign.

Here's the exact terse statement from Micheal:  "Just responded to Rick via my fb page if you are interested"

My response, equally terse in keeping with the spirit of Facebook inboxing:  I am. . . interview?????  For you adults out there, that means I'm interested in reading your response to Rick and would you be available for an interview?

Micheal understood, as he responded:  "I am going to speak through press releases for now Jim. Thank you!"

En otras palabras, Micheal declined my offer of an interview, implying that I could get my information from his press releases. Direct questions about his vision for Southmost, his commitment to protect Lincoln Park from the carnivorous scavengers at UT would not be fielded.  It's almost as if our young candidate has gone to school on the Tony Martinez' above-the-fray, Message, Audience, Inc. Austin approach to campaigning to the "New Latinos."

Commissioner D.J. Rick Longoria
Without reading Micheal's rebuttal, I know Rick hasn't done shit for Southmost.  Longoria, while supposedly representing District 1, steered $35,000,000 of tax dollars to build a so-called "sports park" across the freeway from Olmito.  While Southmost kids kick cans down the alley, skateboarders with transportation use the elaborate half pipe in extremely north Brownsville.

Rick even flubbed up the hurricane dome earmarked for Southmost, a crucial emergency shelter that would double as a gymnasium between storms.  Rick sent that facility to his favorite sports park north of Brownsville, again giving "his people" in Southmost the shaft.

Rick voted to give away Southmost's precious Lincoln Park, even moderated the United Brownsville propaganda video supporting the transfer to UT that was played at the town forum.  Only after the tremendous outcry against the transfer of the park by "his people" at the forum, did Rick have a 'come to Jesus" moment and oppose the transfer of the park.  Rick did not have the foresight to protect Southmost interests until voters came with pitchforks and knives threatening his re-election.

Roman Perez
Also running for District 1 City Commissioner is Roman Perez, someone who has shared ideas, observations and rumors with this blog over several months. Recently, we published a purported email and response, shared by Roman about his employment with Wayland Baptist University.  Perez teaches part-time at the University Center in Harlingen.

The email we received appeared to be addressed to "Bobby WC," stating Roman's current status as an adjunct professor with Wayland.  Actually, it was a partial email between two Wayland administrators discussing how to deal with Wightman's query about Roman's status with the university.  The email remnant I received excluded that discussion, but began with the last words of a sentence, "Bobby WC," giving the impression that the email was directed to him.  It was not.

This blog published a correction and an apology to Bobby for misstating the facts.

Bobby Wightman-Cervantes
This incident precipitated a self-righteous explosion from mentally-challenged, disbarred lawyer Bobby Wightman-Cervantes.  Bobby threatened legal action against me, made irrational insinuations about my grandparenting and demanded I turn over documents.

Blow it out your ample ass, Bobby! You are the broken clock that is right, at best,  twice a day.  No one has told more lies and spread more bull shit in this town than you!  Even your repeated lies about leaving the blogosphere are duly recorded in the minds of the sensible.  Document-driven?  Give this town a fuckin' break.

  2. You tell them, Jim! Bobby is a fuckin looney toon. Self contradicting his own daily feed of discrepancies, hypocrisy and wacko rants...
His blog reads like a transcript of the inner monologue of a paranoid schizophrenic.

If he happened to finally get something right in all that blabbering, no one even noticed.

  3. He is STILL working in support for that Tenaska boondoggle. Why? He insists that "I have already explained it!" but I got an explanation about a stork when I was little as well and it rang just as true and just as logical.

  5. You whine because Mr. Gonzalez tried to keep you informed? Interesting. Of course, you would have bitched had he not kept informed, because in reality, you are just promoting one candidate (Raunchy Roman), rather than providing an objective forum to discuss candidate issues. Brushing Michael aside as some Martinez operative and assuming he won't give you an interview is simply not the right journalistic approach. Of course, if your intent is to be nothing other than Raunchy Roman's platform of distortion, then it is understandable. However, you should shed your false journalistic approach to your blog. The problem with most blogs in Brownsville is that they are approaching important issues by using the politics of hate, rather than honest debate. For example: take the nomination qualification issue raised by Mr. Gonzalez. Instead of brushing off the issue by painting Mr. Gonzalez as terse and not giving you enough attention, you could have commented on 1) how Rick has constantly winged his way through being a commissioner and now claims the "technicality" king's x excuse for his screw up, 2) how Roman didn't even engage, even though he stands to be disqualified, and 3) how Michael tried to uphold the rule of law. What the hell is wrong with that?
Your obviously biased reporting damages your credibility in the long run. No?

    1. Anony @9:47 AM has some reading comprehension issues. I did not "brush Micheal aside." I asked him for an interview. He declined. I used the word "terse" to describe our Facebook exchange, not Micheal himself.

  6. If all the bloggers in Brownsville would ignore Wrightman he would go away. He thrives on the attention. Makes him feel important. My suggestion is for all Brownsville bloggers to refrain from giving Wrightman any kind of recognition for the next 30 days. Simply ignore the bastard.

  7. I don't blame him for not sitting down with you. You have an agenda and are carefully sidestepping that ROMAN edited the document to mislead you. You know he is a liar and still support him. Birds of a feather....

  8. He is a bully. He seems to make money provoking people and suing them when they respond. I think he calls himself a "newspaper" to try to buy into the protections enjoyed by the legit press should someone sue him. It doesn't seem like much of any kind of a newspaper to me. It's more like the diary of a vindictive teenager. "Dear diary, Barton was mean to me today". Thank God he is no longer allowed to practice law.

  9. What is this? The Mutual Non-Admiration Society? If blogs want to be elevated to "news" then they need to be objective and quit being vindictive to each other. Don't be petty, otherwise you guys are not going to be taken seriously. Brownsville, actually, needs the blogs because our 4th branch of government, the press, is failing miserably in Brownsville. The press was given importance and protection through the First Amendment for a reason: to be a check on government. We are being governed by amateurs and others who use the shell of government for their own benefit. Grow up bloggers, quit trying to see who is best, or more important and do what you're supposed to do: inform the public. You guys have become more of a sideshow for local entertainment. Believe me, our elected officials are enough of a side-show. Unfortunately, in their case, the resulting damage is severe. The public has become disillusioned. For example, they no longer believe in the judicial process in Cameron County. Call the public officials on their lack of ability to solve basic issues. We have a lot of opportunity on the horizon, help safeguard our future. Forget the editorializing, especially when it's only veiled propaganda for your favorite candidate. If your candidate is worthy have him address the issues head on, not use some bogus ad hominem attacks, like Mr. Longoria attacking Mr. Gonzalez because he had the nerve to show Longoria's "experience" mind set doesn't include knowing the charter well enough to properly qualify for the ballot..

    1. Longoria has to go. I agree with. Michael....longoria has gotten along by winging it. The guy is a DJ for God's sake! Time to get some qualified people in there that are going to ask questions, not follow the Mayor. I have a question for Michael......as a guy that has not made up his mind on in your race. Will you support an investigation on the purchase of the Casa de Nylon? It stinks of criminal wrong doing. Same question for Roman.

  10. GOD!!!!!! I feel soooooo sorry for BCW's relatives----he is their worst enemy with his relentless lawsuits and tattle-telling. No one wants to care for them. I also feel so sorry for that little girl Bella and her family for having him in their lives. He is the biggest thug-bully on the face of this earth. And what is this cowardly business of going after the spouses and children of candidates? Jim he has also written about your family in a stalking way. That is so scary!!!!!! Can't anything be done?

  12. In 2015, the public, the people are the ones that define the brands, NOT the companies or in this case, the campaign. Commissioners are running for a cause and having us decide whether that cause makes sense to us as it directly affects our every day life. To refuse and interview but offer complete transparency on social media is not necessarily HIDING anything, he simply not only reflects the shift in culture we live with today but also understands how we operate as a community. -Rendon

Bobby use the word lemministic to identify those supporting G. Martinez. Do you have any knowledge of such word because it is definitely not in the dictionary? If so, can you please elaborate on the meaning of the word.

[EDITOR REPLIES:...The root word, I believe, is "lemming," which the dictionary tells me is a rodent of some kind. But Bobby was probably working a variation that went to the slang meaning, which is that LEMMING is someone quick to follow, a crowd, or someone else. But you could always go to his Blog and post this same question...]

Thank you Mr. Paz-Martinez for the advise. However, the whole purpose of asking for the meaning of the word was to show how idiotic a person can be. While many of those who reads the BV may think highly of such blog, they only read the comments that the BV allows them to read. Therefore, by asking your blog for the meaning of the non-existing word "lemministic", we knew that the BV would react and accuse Mr. Gerardo Martinez of being an idiot who "lack the skills to intuit and comprehend new word." Bobby loves to assume that the world revolves around him and that everybody reacts to him based on what he predicts which in most cases is an assumption misleading many of his readers. Bobby wrote a whole article humiliating Mr. G. Martinez for asking about the definition of the make up word "lemministic" which Mr. Martinez was innocent of doing so. Bobby goes on to attack Mr. Martinez by saying, "so you knew it was not in the dictionary. But you lied, because you have nothing of integrity to offer the people of Brownsville." Asking for the definition of the word "lemministic" might have seen like a stupid question but it serves its purpose in exposing those who are ready to mislead the good people of this community
