Stillman Ranch House Gets Historical Footings in Mitte Cultural District on Monday

Workmen were busy Monday pouring concrete over the tied rebar installed to create footings for the Stillman Ranch House located in the Mitte Cultural District.

A concrete truck was parked just off the grass inside the parking area. Workers were using a rented, motorized wheel barrel to empty the concrete one wheel barrel load at a time.

"Well, you have the easiest job here,"  I shouted to the concrete truck driver.

"Yeah, they didn't want to let me pull up on the grass,"  he replied.

  1. Guess it's only appropriate that the citizens of Brownsville fund the upkeep and display of some Anglo overlord's whorehouse. Gross ignorance.

  3. Thanks Prissy! Isn't it nice to spend the tax dollars of a place you don't even live? No wonder she's leaving town in such a hurry. The citizens of Brownsville aren't buying her snake oil anymore! Tear down Stillman's whorehouse!

    1. Someone sure sounds obsessed or upset. Hope you don't have any daughters with your evident hostility towards women in power, Guillermo.

  4. Who is paying for this boondoggle to put this shack into the park???? We were led to believe the Stillman Foundation was paying.....is that true? Or, is the illustrious and incompetent city commission going to use public funds? With the public officials we have, maybe there are more shacks to bring to town to spend money on. And, pretty soon downtown will have a spider's web of biking trails.....for the few who ride bikes; and more rutted streets for the majority with automobiles. I think this isolates the downtown and doesn't contribute to anyone visiting downtown, or investing in downtown.

  5. I think that the ”Stillman foundation” is a euphemism for the city coffers, like Prissy's (Heritage Society's) remodeling budget. Budget might be the wrong word since Prissy uses the city like her own ATM financing this waste of money and space. I'll bet the ”Stillman foundation” is as stingy as Boozin' Bill Hudson. Then again, nothing's ever too good for Peter Goodman and Priscilla Rodriguez.

    2. Stop distracting, Prissy! You and your UB cronies love stuffing your porky hands into the piggy bank everytime you have some hair brained scheme. Why is the city paying for the love shack? How is it important? Quit distracting and start answering!

  6. Jim, what ever became of John Shergold's suit against the city regarding the house?

    Thanks,

  7. Are these workers even legally in the country? I am constructing my house this summer and I can not believe how many workers come across the bridge day in and day out looking for construction work. A lot of them already are in the shadows living off the welfare and scream and shiver at the mentioning of having to pay them with a check......"No, no, solo al contado! (no, only cash). Apparently the city does not have smart enough workers to pour in cement to hold up an antic shack made of greed and disgrace. Shame on all the leaders of the poorest city in the U.S.
