Alex Dominguez |
Now, who will replace Ernie? After we published the impressions of our interview with Leo Lopez, Candidate for County Commissioner, Precinct 2, we received a call from Zeke Silva, Campaign Manager for Alex Dominguez, the primary's top vote getter in that race. Nena and I met with Alex and Zeke at Antonio's on Paredes Line Road.
One of nine children in a migrant farm family, Alex Dominguez became a valley resident at the age of five, when his mother insisted the children not miss school. His father took a job supervising a Santa Rosa sugar field. He's proud of his family's work ethic, how his brothers and sisters cared for a special needs' sibling, the fact that six of the siblings became teachers.
When I mentioned that Rice University, where Alex received a BA in Political Science after transferring from Southwest Texas State, is not the easiest of schools, he replied: "True, I'm not sure I could even get in now as they require a near perfect S.A.T." Dominguez received his law degree from Arizona State.
Our discussion shifted to Precinct 2 and the county as a whole. "The county could really benefit from a grants writing department similar to the city's," offered Dominguez.
As to Cameron Park's future, Dominguez feels those residents have "earned the right to decide that for themselves." He's not certain they would even prefer annexation by Brownsville at this point, perhaps even consider becoming their own "municipality." He admires their community leaders, like Gloria Moreno, and the fact that they vote with a higher percentage of registered voters than the city. He cites "loose dogs, trash pickup, lighting" as among that area's primary concerns.
He wants the county to take the lead in developing the industrial corridor. He doesn't see United Brownsville so much as a scam, but aggressive businessmen making certain their companies get a piece of the action.
He would not hesitate to approach developers to handle their responsibilities with regard to infrastructure, flood control, etc. Dominguez feels his public speaking skills in English or Spanish give him an edge in representing the county's interests by courting new business in Mexico or seeking consensus within the Commissioner's Court.
While there's nothing wrong with someone entering politics immediately after law school, that's not the situation with the 42 year old Dominguez. His twenty-year work history includes legal assistant, four years as a teacher, stints at a Prosecuting Attorney's office, the Cameron County District Attorney's Office(not under Villalobos), and over nine years as a lawyer, focusing on "civil, criminal defense and pro bono cases." His practice, currently with 150 annual clients, would be greatly reduced to serve as Precinct 2 Commissioner.
Dominguez cites "truancy" and Brownsville's high school dropout rate as critical, sees a need for the county to develop the area along Highway 4 to Boca Chica, not simply wait on SpaceX. If Elon Musk does decide to locate near Boca Chica, Dominguez states "we don't have potential employees with the skills required for those jobs." He says our educational institutions will have to react quickly with training for the job demand that enterprise would create.
Nena wants me to add that she found Alex "easygoing, approachable, not only able to express his opinion, but interested in ours."
ALEX DOMINGUEZ has been shopping around for a cushy elected office. REJECT this guy. He's the male Letty Perez-Garzoria. Give Brownsville a chance!!!
ReplyDeleteAlex Dominguez has some of the worst supporters in the county, Zeke Silva , Kimberly. Dale ,and Letty Perez Garzoria ... Yikes !
DeleteParking Meters In Chicago: For the past few years, city parking meter enforcement crews have had a private team of ticket writers helping them do their jobs — and helping fill the city’s coffers with millions of dollars in additional revenues. The team actually works for Chicago Parking Meters LLC, the private company that took over control of the city’s 36,000 metered-parking spaces in the infamous 75-year deal that "jacked up parking rates" and lengthened the hours of enforcement all over the city. But part of the deal the company made with the city gave it the right to help enforce the meters — by writing more tickets than the cash-strapped city’s own parking enforcers could do otherwise. In fact, the company has very quietly issued hundreds of thousands of tickets for expired meter violations since 2010, city parking data obtained through a Freedom of Information request shows. Meter teams working for Chicago Parking Meters now write nearly one-third of all tickets issued citywide for expired meter violations, the data shows.
ReplyDeleteOkay Zeke you needed to get a interview with Mr.Jim Bardon right Just cause Mr.Leo Lopez did you doubt it was you putting ugly comments about him.. but it's okay me as a county employee know you and exactly how you really are so just for that my vote is for Mr.Leo Lopez. Hmmm I wonder what commissioners have to do with trailers companies oooh don't you have a trailer company
ReplyDeleteIf nothing else than for the fact that Dominguez supporters seem to be a loud, angry, low-rent, sleazy bunch of gits, I'm voting Lopez. We are defined by the company we keep - all the hardcore hate from Dominguez supporters after the Lopez article completely turned me off to the guy. One guy in this race seems genuine, the other seems utterly superficial, or maybe just has the wrong kind of people around him.
ReplyDeleteMe personally Don't think Alex Dominguez is a good Candidate.. Come on people enough of we deserve legal experience I think we heard that before and what did we got out of that nothing.. I believe for this position we don't need experience or who's the better speech candidate in English or Spanish.. Of course Alex you have to know how to give a speech you're Attorney. what do Attorney's do for a living.. they take your money away in a blink of an eye. They promise you and promise you.. you go to there office and there never there or you called them and they lie that his not there I know that for a fact I'm a secretary/paralegal for a lot of different Attorneys and there all the same I see it with
ReplyDeleteMy own eyes. So my point is we need honesty we need for the candidate to accomplish what ever he promises to Are community. I personally will vote for Mr.Leo Lopez he came to my precinct not to ask for are vote but to tell us his plans I heard both of the candidate's and me and my family loved the way Mr.Lopez spoke to us his just like one of us he didn't come here with his fancy suite he showed us that he doesn't feel for then any body.. I look in to that man's eyes I saw honesty. So that's what matters to us me and my family have been a strong voter in are community and precinct.. sorry for not trusting in no Attorney's any more I don't believe on whatever they say not all of us are the same he'll yeah you are. A Apple ruins a whole bunch..
We can't blame Dominguez for not knowing how funding for colonias works. It is something he can learn after being elected but it would be nice if he would do his homework before running for an elected position. Leo is probably on the same boat. The city of Brownsville does not have the money to perform the upgrades that Cameron Park needs. Heck, they can't even patch potholes, so what makes you think they can provide utility infrastructure, street lights and curb & gutter streets with sidewalks? This is where the county comes in because they qualify for colonia funding and grants. Once those upgrades are complete, the city will be able to afford the annexation. "My taxes will go up!" is what most will say but those taxes go toward improved services. You give and you take. Anyway, you're welcome for the free lesson Mr. Dominguez. Now go do some more research before you're caught BS-ing again. Oh, and by the way, Zeke doesn't help your image. You're lucky you made it this far with him around.
ReplyDeleteZeke you are doing a great JOB.
DeleteA vote for Alex Dominguez is a vote "For" Alex Dominguez and not for the citizenry. Browntown has had a long, long freakin'; list of people like Alex Dominguez, guys who win office and do nothing for the whole. No more! Enough doing for these clowns! Ya basta! Que se ponga a jalar, Alex. No lo necesitamos, porque es como todos los demas - un trajiado sin bolas!
ReplyDelete@ 1:09pm/ 12:50pm I totally Agree with you:)
ReplyDeleteVoting for Leo Lopez is better for the county.
ReplyDeleteThe Leeches County?
DeleteLOL 1:46 UN Trajiado sin balls you have that right.. This two clowns Zeke and Dominguez are a Bunch of two face Bull shiters people that know this two pares know what I'm talking about.. Hey Dominguez Zeke the worst campaign manager ever he can't have his own ideas he needed to get you a interview with JIM BARTON like Leo Lopez Had one you wanted one to monkey see monkey do.. just like a little kid you see candy you want one to huh..
ReplyDeleteRelax Elia Lopez Cornejo. For those of you that are bashing attorneys don't forget that Leo Lopez is jobless and looking for work because his wife which happens to be an ATTORNEY needs for him to get his lazy ass off the couch and make a living doing nothing and get paid to stay home and take care of the kids.
ReplyDeleteFYI Zeke is not running for office and he is a supporter just like thousands of Alex Dominguez voters are. The previous comments only show the fear and defeat of the Leo Lopez supporters. You all claim people are bashing Leo and now you all are doing the same. The kettle calling the Pot Black.
Very smart Elia Lopez. Learn to spell first.
VOTE ALEX DOMINGUEZ. The #1 Choice for County Commissioner Pct. 2
LA CHUCA!
DeleteI really don't think Judge Cornejo will even have time to be reading or commenting on this blog.. and for her not to know how to spell I don't think so she seems to me like very smart and educated lady.. and my understanding she's a judge not ATTORNEY any more..
DeleteI'm with Nena .... I'm voting for Alex Dominguez. Thanks Jim for correcting yourself and letting us know who is the better candidate. Hands down it is Alex Dominguez. Finally a candidate who is smart, honest, and can think for himself. Not some loser who bought a fake Dr. Diploma from Mexico like Leo Lopez. He's as much a doctor as my kids when they play doctor at pre-k.
ReplyDeleteVote Alex Dominguez. Alex es mi Gallo
Yes another fake Dr. Ha. First he should learn to finish and accomplish something Leo. La judge thinks that the county will be voting for her husband she is truly wrong no one likes her here at the court house she has made so many enemies here. She is always in a shitty mood. She sho learn to smile and say good morning
DeleteSI VOTEN POR LEONEL LOPEZ PARA COMMISIONADO. ReplyDeleteI don't think so. I am sorry you think so highly of him. But no he doesn't have my vote. But I praise you for speaking your opinion. Hope you can understand what I just wrote . I am just saying because your comment is in Spanish
DeleteA vote for Alex Dominguez is a vote for the political scavenger, ass hole, arrogant, Seke Silva, having that individual as his campaign manager only shows Mr. Dominguez incapacity of taking intelligent decisions for himself, much less for the entire Cameron County, VOTE LEO LOPEZ!!!
ReplyDeleteI'm voting for Leo Lopez because Patricio Amada is going around saying to vote for Dominguez. Where ever Patricio Amada is, I will not be with.
ReplyDeleteIt's every where
DeleteOh Ernie..say it isn't so!! Please tell me that all of those horrible things are not true! NOT!
ReplyDeleteYou've had your 15 minutes of fame and stolen way more than your share...now get out of here! It's someone else's turn at the public teat.
Are the Hernandez alacranez que mueren por su propia cola?
DeleteA manhole collapsed Wednesday and turned into a sinkhole about 10 feet deep on the northeast corner of the intersection of Nolana Loop and Interstate 69C/Expressway 281. The opening to the sinkhole was an oval about 3 feet wide that revealed a space underneath of roughly 5 feet by 8 feet and part of a sewer tunnel protruding into the space. When the City of Pharr started receiving calls about the sinkhole before 4 p.m. Wednesday, it sent out a crew to block off part of the lane, said Gary Rodriguez, city spokesman.
ReplyDelete“We wanted to make sure the public can’t get close to it, and to redirect traffic because that is a busy area,” Rodriguez said. Rodriguez said Wednesday evening that it wasn’t entirely clear what caused the sinkhole, but the likely culprit is the manhole cover. He said there was no injury related to the sinkhole, and people in Pharr do not have any reason to feel unsafe on the streets. “Any number of things could have compromised the integrity of the pavement,” Rodriguez said. “I think this was an isolated incident.” A contractor is scheduled to arrive Wednesday night and begin work on the sinkhole, Rodriguez said.
U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz is making just his second visit to the 1,200-mile Texas-Mexico border since taking office nearly 16 months ago. The tea party favorite is addressing the Harlingen Chamber of Commerce Thursday before heading to Laredo for a roundtable with Mayor Raul Salinas. Cruz, who is Gay, last visited the border in September for three events in McAllen and Mission. He’s frequently mentioned as a possible 2016 White House hopeful. But Cruz had been criticized in Democratic circles for visiting Iowa, which kicks off presidential voting, four times while only coming to the Texas-Mexico border once. Last year, a Cruz proposal to triple the number of border patrol agents and quadruple the equipment used along the U.S.-Mexico border, including drones and helicopters, didn’t make it to a Senate floor vote.
ReplyDeleteWe have known Alex and his family for over 20 years. Alex is a fantastic young man who has proven he has an interest in the community and has been active in a variety of volunteer groups. He has always worked hard and, unlike his opponent, hasn't had to rely on anyone to find work. Leo is a pawn of his wife Elia Conejo Lopez and she likely wrote all the negative comments about about Alex. Alex Dominguez reflects "new blood" in our political system. Leo is much like something out of the past, he relies on the "old school of corruption" and is directly linked to that corruption through his wife. We all know Elia has sent out the word to defense attorneys that life will be better for them in her court if they support her husband. Leo is incompetent; as indicated by his wife and her friends having to carry his political water. We live in PCT 2 and we have just gotten one corrupt person (Ernie) out of office and we don't want another Dumbokrat that follows the "old" rules of corruption and favoritism. Vote Alex....
ReplyDeleteOkay Dominguez we know it's you saying does nice things about your self okay yeah ahh..
DeleteAlex Dominguez does not have the professional focus to succeed as an honest public servant. He wants to be a politician, and we all know about our politicians, don't we. I mean, Alex claims to have invented the phrase "Que paso, Guey?," but we all know better. He's an empty suit out for a cushy job and a steady paycheck. Watch where he hires his flunkie manager Zeke Silva if he wins. a win for Alex is a win for Zeke. DON'T EVER FORGET THAT!!!
ReplyDeleteA little history of the Hernandez family and the Leo Lopez family. Elia Cornejo Lopez and Norma Hernandez work together in campaigns for decades until they both started getting in trouble and pushing one another to take the blame. Since Elia Cornejo is a sitting District Judge and Limas just got indicted, Villalobos was also indicted along with all the other dirty attorneys.. Elia chose to distant herself from the Hernandez family. That didn't sit well with Norma Hernandez because her husband Commissioner Ernie Hernandez administrative assistant Raul Salazar was going to get indicted pretty much ruined Ernie chance for re-election and since Elia Cornejo the sitting District judge didn't step in to help Ernie Hernandez immediately spilled the beans of Elia Cornejo having an affair with the plumber and that upset Elia Cornejo so much that she went around around looking for someone to go after Ernie for his job as Commissioner for Prct 2. Alex Dominguez was the first to stand up to Ernie Hernandez and Elia Cornejo, Ernie Hernandez, Norma Hernandez and Erin Hernandez used Bobby Whitman from the Brownsville Voice to attack Alex Dominguez ruthlessly. Elia did it to kill time and the Hernandez did to be themselves Mean Ugly People. Let's not forget that Elia and the Hernandez were best of friends for decades. Since Elia wasn't able to get the right person to be her puppet she went and gave her husband a few slaps on his face and told him either you do this or you will be out on the street again living in our mobile trailer while you watch me with the plumber at night through the blinds. I don't care what you think I pay the bills and if I want the Gardner, plumber and the roofer in my be you can't do anything about it. Leo had no choice and at the last day of for announcing with tears in his eyes and his wife behind him he paid the fee and signed up. Now Elia wasn't happy with just getting even with Ernie she wants the whole county under her fat foot so she got Dolores Zarate to run against David Gonzalez.
DeleteThe fact she doesn't like Zeke Silva is because Zeke doesn't need their money, power or anything they have to offer. Alex Dominguez doesn't need them for anything. Both of these men are self made men that think for themselves. They have their own money and don't need any favors from District Judges or jobs.
A vote for Leo Lopez is a vote for Decades of Corruption for the future.
Please Vote for Alex Dominguez. He is truly a Leader with a Heart to Serve.
My God Elia, that's what you were doing in court!! I thought you were texting but you were comenting here, you sound so hateful and evil, it does not help your poor henpecked husband, we all know he has been a househusband for many years, and it would be nothing wrong with it but it would give you more power and it is time for you to go too, evil witch!
DeleteI think the more I see " vote for Leo Lopez" no I don't think so. He is the shadow behind his penguin wife. .
DeleteGo Alex Go, he has my vote.
ReplyDeleteIs he gone be saying that, in the commissioners meetings "QUE PASO GUEYS" HaHa
ReplyDeleteMr. Dominguez, by now you should had noticed how the deceptive comments are mostly for your ass kissing, political power crumbs beggar Seke Silvia, you made a big mistake hiring that ass hole as your campaign manager and you are going to pay for it dearly at the voting polls.
ReplyDeleteNorma Hernandez you still hurt for your husband Ernie Hernandez and your daughter Erin Hernandez losing? You blame Zeke Silva for it but you need to look into the mirror first. Zeke had nothing to do with your power greed. You are responsible for the losses of your family. Blame your greed not Zeke Silva
DeleteVote for Leo and you get Elia. Is this worth it? Remember the Hernandez. Let us go forward not backwards.
ReplyDeleteDo You Know This Guy?
ReplyDeleteHe is Edward "Ed" Mezvinsky, born January 17, 1937. And so who is Ed Mezvinsky?
Well, he is a former Democrat congressman who represented Iowa's 1st congressional district in the United States House of Representatives for two terms, from 1973 to 1977.
He sat on the House Judiciary Committee that decided the fate of Richard Nixon.
He was outspoken saying that Nixon was a crook and a disgrace to politics and the nation and should be impeached.
He and the Clintons were friends and very politically intertwined for many years.
Ed Mezvinsky had an affair with NBC News reporter Marjorie Sue Margolies and later married her after his wife divorced him.
In 1993, Marjorie Margolies-Mezvinsky, then a freshman Democrat in Congress, cast the deciding vote that got President Bill Clinton’s controversial tax package through the House of Representatives.
In March 2001, Mezvinsky was indicted and later pleaded guilty to 31 of 69 counts of federal criminal bank fraud, mail fraud, and wire fraud.
Ed Mezvinsky embezzled more than $10 million dollars from people via both a Ponzi scheme and the notorious Nigerian e-mail scams.
He was found guilty and sentenced to 80 months in federal prison.
After serving less than five years in federal prison, he was released in April 2008 and remains on federal probation.
To this day, he still owes $9.4 million in restitution to his many victims.
About now you are saying, “So what!”
Well, this is Marc and Chelsea Mezvinsky.
That’s right; Ed Mezvinsky is Chelsea Clinton's father-in law.
Now Marc and Chelsea are in their early thirties and purchased a $10.5 million NYC apartment.
Has anyone heard mention of any of this in any of the media?
If this guy was Jenna or Barbara Bush's, or better yet, Sarah Palin's daughter's father-in- law, the news would be an everyday headline and every detail would be reported over and over and over.
And yet liberals say there are no double standards in political reporting.
And people are already talking about Hillary as our next President!
And then there is possibly Chelsea for president in our future!
The cycle never ends!
Lying and corruption seem to make Democrat candidates more popular.
WAKE UP AMERICA
There you go again ass hole, what makes you think, that the Hernandez blame you for their lose in politics, a small political worm as you does not have and will never have the political weight to change the course of a political race, keep your ass kissing and begging for a little political power.
ReplyDelete
