Republican Club of Brownsville Hosts Two Statewide Candidates on Wednesday
After last month's successful meet and greet, the Republican Club of Brownsville (RCB) welcomes two additional statewide candidates at its October meeting. RCB proudly announces this month's vist of State Representative and Higher Education Committee Chairman Dan Branch, a candidate for Texas Attorney General, and State Republican Executive Committeewoman and Geologist Becky Berger, a candidate for Texas Railroad Commission.
Both will be RCB's special guests on Wednesday, October 2, 2013 at 12:00 PM (noon) at the VICC Restaurant on 95 Country Club Road, Brownsville, Texas. The public is invited to come and meet as they tour the Rio Grande Valley this week.
Chairman Branch has served in the Texas House of Representatives since 2003 representing part of the Dallas-Forth Worth metroplex. In this past legislative session as chairman of the Texas Higher Education Committee in the House, Chairman Branch pushed through the bill that merged The University of Texas at Brownsville and The University of Texas Pan American. As a legislator, he championed of the daily moment of silence in schools in 2004 and, along with Attorney General Greg Abbott and then-Solicitor General Ted Cruz, defended his bill's constitutionality. He also supports open government. He authored and supported a Texas constitutional amendment requiring legislators to record their votes on all new laws. Texans voted in favor of it in 2007. He is a practicing attorney in Dallas.
Committeewoman Becky Berger is an oil and gas professional and a degreed Geologist. She serves the statewide executive board of the Texas Federation of Republican Women. She believes her technical expertise will serve Texas well on the Railroad Commission which regulates our state's large energy production. Berger currently serves on the State Republican Executive Committee representing Senatorial District 18 and was the 2012 Texas Republican Party State Convention Committee vice-chair. She lives in Gonzales County.
RCB President Eddie Padron stated, "Our club is excited that many strong statewide candidates like Chairman Branch and Committeewoman Berger are taking notice of Brownsville and the Rio Grande Valley. We invite everyone in Brownsville, Cameron County and the RGV to our meeting as we learn about their individual campaigns."
Padron continued, "Our club's leadership has coordinated with other conservative groups in the Valley to host speaking engagements. This gives grassroots and the public at large opportunities at their convenience to hear out statewide candidates like Branch, Berger, Chairman Barry Smitherman last month, and Senator Glenn Hegar in November. We hope Brownsville and Cameron County voters will take this opportunity to get to know these candidates and the issues."
The Republican Club of Brownsville meets on the first Wednesday of each month at 12:00 PM (noon) at the VICC Restaurant. The organization has been in Brownsville since the 1960s. Part of its mission is to inform voters and the public about the Republican Party and its candidates. RCB does not endorse candidates during the primary. On November 6, 2013, RCB will host Texas State Senator Glenn Hegar, a candidate for Texas Comptroller.

So did Roman Perez take over this blog? First, Dags Barrera then Eddie Padron, Perez's mentor. Who gives a shit what these Republican kooks have to say. I want to hear about Sylvia usurping her power from the honest precinct chairs of our county.
