Developer Ordered to Tear Down Concrete Wall on South Padre Island, Pay Heavy Fines

  1. the GLO envisions an island without sea walls, or concrete/asphalt paving. brick pavers are now required. this is nonsense. can you imagine if they take it another step and remove the existing seawalls from the rest of the island? it would be wiped out. when ike hit Houston, the seawall at the tiki was topped by the high seas. if the wall wasn't there, the tiki would not be there. I am sorry, but they are on the wrong path. all those brick paver sidewalks, driveways and streets will easily be destroyed whenever a large hurricane simply enters the gulf. insurance rates will skyrocket because of this ill conceived plan.
