From the editor: Just as we suspected, the three Tony subsidized candidates: Melissa Zamora, Estela Chavez-Vasquez and Rosalie Gowen seem poised to approve the near-free leasing of taxpayer-maintained office space to newly elected Congressman Fil Vela. Tony(Lola) Martinez will be the apparent swing vote in approving the sweetheart deal for the affluent young lawyer whose district includes Cameron County, perhaps the poorest county in the United States. What do we expect from Melissa Zamora? She is renting her house from the mayor for goodness sake! She will give Fil Vela the vote he wants and then ask him for a job...

DeleteThe mayor is in China with Jason Hilts. The guy is living large at the tax payers expense...Hilts has gone to China a dozen times on BEDC dime,...and we have recieved nothing from those trips except for the massages that Hilts gets at the local parlor. He might have started a family with all the trips he is taking over there,....maybe his girl had a sister for the Mayor!
