Dallas Cowboys cheerleaders |
The most valuable sports franchise in the world at $10.1B, the Dallas Cowboys, are finally giving their cheerleaders a living wage. Prior to a 2019 lawsuit, the cheer team was said to have been paid between $8-12 per hour for practice and $200 on game day, but that year, the hourly rate was raised and game day pay set at $400.
Now, Jerry Jones, who's family moved from Los Angeles to the rundown Rose City neighborhood in North Little Rock, Arkansas when he was 3 years old, has given "America's Sweethearts" a 400% raise in pay to reportedly $1600 per game.
“Happy’ isn’t even the right word for it,” former cheerleader Jada McLean said recently. “I think I was just ... kind of felt, like, a relief, like everything had paid off. And it was, you know, finally, we were done fighting.”
This boost for the Cowboys cheerleaders comes on the heels of quarterback Dak Prescott's historic contract in 2024, a four year $240M extension making him the highest player in NFL history with an $80M extension and annual salary of $60M through 2028.
