Little Tussle Between Young and Old at Brownsville Republican Club

Luis H. Cavazos, President of Brownsville Republican Club

Young Luis Cavazos, the President of the Brownsville Republican Club introduces himself of the group's website:

Greetings! My name is Luis Cavazos, and I am the current president of the Republican Club of Brownsville, Texas. In this capacity I serve to help elect Republican candidates and support Republican ideals in the city of Brownsville and in Cameron County.
I currently also serve as a precinct chair and a member of the Young Republicans. I also served as the Student Government Association president of Texas Southmost College from 2014-2015.
Thank you for visiting my site! If you have any questions please leave a comment below.

Wednesday, the Brownsville Republican Club held its monthly meeting at the Valley Inn and Country Club.  Chairman Cavazos ran through the items on the agenda, then asked if any of the members had any more business before adjournment.

Former Cameron Country Republican Chairman, Frank Morris
To the surprise of some of the members, former Cameron County Chair Frank Morris stood up:

"I have some appointments to make," stated Mr. Morris.

When questioned as to under what authority he was making appointments, since he is no longer county chair, Morris replied:  "I represent the Donald Trump Campaign in Cameron County."

Bob Prepejchal, Declined Appointment
Morris attempted to name "area coordinators" for Brownsville and South Padre Island and other areas, mentioning a couple folks not familiar to the group.  One of Morris's would-be appointees, Bob Prepejchal, declined the appointment.

Understandably, with Frank Morris serving the local Republican Party for several decades, it may be difficult to relinquish his historical influence and control over party matters.  Republican Club President, Luis Cavazos, and his counterpart, Cameron County Chair, Morgan Graham, are the new faces of the local party.

  1. Franko is watching his long time captives who suffered from Stolkholm syndrome now clinging to Morgan Graham whose ship isn't sinking. shes good to her staff and has these things called "ideas" and "structure" to get things going.

  2. It was more like Dead Man Talkin'. What the hell planet Morris was living on was only known to Alex Torres, current nobody-in-residence for the Morris camp. Remember when Alex was about to be crowned County Chair? Oh, how the mighty have fallen!

    1. I wonder how many cards Alex printed up that had to be tossed out.

    2. Alex v. Morgan in a forum? She would run circles around him. That would be a marathon to complete one lap.

  3. Cavazos handled things well. I suspect he will be the county chair before long.

    1. Once Graham moves on to other things there will actually be a working organization for him to inherit. She seems to be building everything from the ground up.

    3. With all due respect to both Cavazos is not ready. Rep Madame Chair has just begun. I like how she's put her foot down and said no more politiqueras or harvesting votes. She listens to voters and party members. I want to see what more she does. Me being a voter this is the first one I've come across and met. She's doing great. Blessed be you to all people posting. Sincerely, Paula

  5. Eddie Padron was jealous of Luis Cavazos and didn't want him to be president bc Luis had the nerve to get his education and wouldn't be able to commit to 3 hour executive meetings where Eddie would talk about nothing nonstop. That's why Padron was fighting Morgan Graham who said the party should not be eating their own young.

Eddie Padron resigned as precinct chair so the party keeps getting better and better and losing the dead weight. It only took Morgan ONE meeting to flush out them who worship at the altar of a dead presumptive god. Now if only Alex Torrez would resign because everybody knows he's only in it to mole for Morris and he'll never get any of the positions Frank promised him other than that one where he grabs his ankles.

  6. Frank, Frank, Frank...just because Graham lifted that shady ban on recording devices you and Torres are so bitter. How will Alex's and Eddie's lies stand when the video don't jive Frankito?

  7. Jim, you got the Republicans all stirred up again.

  8. Bob handed Frank his ass after that thing. Frank looked whiter than usual when his 30 year right hand helper told him to back the fuck off and not fuck with Morgan. Alex's little smirk he had the whole meeting disappeared but this time he didn't cry. The only worse thing than being Frank Morris is latching onto Frank Morris hoping to be somebody. Tsk tsk tsk
    "FranksBehind, party of two."

  9. Is he senile? Does he think he's Napoleon yet?
The only person sticking with him after all these years is Alex Torrez. That's really sad and little to show for all these years. If he gets Eddie Padron to go with him too the average IQ of the formal party will raise drastically.

  10. FRANK MORRIS DOES NOT REPRESENT THE TRUMP CAMPAIGN. The hot chick does. He thought he could pull a fast one but basically has 3 friends some glue and spit and made up titles.

  11. Will Morris quit embarrassing himself? No. The Trump people don't even know who that clown is! It looked like he was about to appoint the waiter to some position he had no authority to do

  12. I appoint Alex Torres as.....Shit! I wouldn't appoint him to the fire watch at a water park.

  13. Eddie Padron was a horrendous leader for the Republican Club. He and Frank Morris are both embarrassments to the party. Its a good thing that senile Frank is finally gone.

  15. This is what should be taken from this story... The old regime of the Cameron County Republican Party is dead. The new regime is alive and well. Yes, we are having to rebuild from the ground up, but the party will be better, stronger, and run in a more professional manner than it has before. Chairman Graham is dedicated to seeing that the party not only get back on its feet, but that it will thrive, not just survive, and start to become a force in Valley politics in the next several cycles. The Chairman has surrounded herself with competent individuals, who have experience in public policy, politics, and running campaigns, who will move this party forward in the future.

The time to unite is now. We have a great slate of candidates for our county positions who have and will continue to put the good of the people they serve at the forefront of duties on a daily basis. Constables Cavazos and Delgadillo have done excellent jobs in their respective precincts and we have seen great changes in the short time they have been in office. They both deserve our support in their reelection bids. Don Duncan is a great candidate for Pct. 5 Constable, who has a plethora of experience in law enforcement from being officer to an administrator overseeing departments with large budgets and labor forces. He too deserves our support. Victor Cortez is a great candidate for Sheriff and he will do a lot to improve that office, better yet he will be able to find it on a regular basis. Judge De Coss has been phenomenal on the bench and he deserves our support to keep conservative judicial philosophy on the bench in Cameron County. These are candidates and ideals to unite behind!!!

To Frank Morrison, Alex Torres, Eddie Padron, and others in your camp: you are welcome to join us in this fight, in fact we invite you to join us to unite with us to work for a better, more prosperous Cameron County that we can all live, work, and play in. But know this, any efforts to circumvent or undermine Chairman Graham and the CCREC will not be tolerated and will be met with swift action.

To all Cameron County Republicans, let us unite and move our party and county forward. Get active in the party clubs, volunteer with the campaigns, come volunteer at the block walks and phone banks so that together we can turn this county and the valley Republican Red!!!
